The Tallest People To Have Ever Lived Reading Mount Everest Isn't The TALLEST Mountain In The World?! 3 minutes Next Let's Play A Quick Game Of "Who's Taller?"

Have you ever had the though about climbing Mount Everest just to say that you climbed the TALLEST mountain in the world? I wont lie, I’ve thought about it too…but I am too lazy.

Ever since I was a kid in elementary school I was taught that Mount Everest is the tallest mountain in the world…but it turns out I have been lied to for a lot of years. Come to find out Mount Everest is only the tallest mountain by elevation, but by base to peak it gets trumped by a mountain called “Mauna Kea”.

Mauna Kea is actually a volcano that forms the largest of the Hawaiian islands. Although its elevation is only 4,207 meters high, the majority of the mountain is actually underwater. The Mountain of Muana Kea from base to peak is over 10,200 meters high and that of Mount Everest is only 8,848 meters high.

So rather than climbing to the top of Mount Everest to get your bragging rights, save yourself several thousands steps and go climb Muana Kea. You will be sure to impress all of your colleagues at your next dinner conference when you tell them that you’ve climbed to the top of the TALLEST mountain in the world.

Not only will you save yourself a couple thousands steps, you will also find some pretty nice weather when compared to Everest’s climate. At the summit of Muana Kea the temperature rarely goes below 30 degrees, even during the winter, and during the day it can cook up to almost 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Now I’m now expert, but I am sure the average person would say that that kind of weather isn’t all that bad. Especially when you compare it to Mount Everest. At its peak temperatures range between -4 and -31 degrees Fahrenheit.

It’s always nice to one up a friend or two, but it’s not worth getting frost bite for. So if you are in the market for something to brag about: buy yourself a plane ticket to Hawaii, lace up your hiking boots, buy yourself a nice fitting shirt to hike in, and go climb the REAL TALLEST Mountain on earth.
