Scientific research seems to suggest that taller people have an advantage over their shorter counterparts.

A 2004 study found that the taller you are the more you’ll make. Actually, according to the study, a person that is over 6 feet tall would be predicted to earn nearly $166,000 more over the course of a 30-year career than someone who is 5’5″, man or woman.

More importantly, recent research found that taller people are happier and more satisfied with work and with their life in general.

Researcher have proposed a few fascinating theories. These theories could possibly help explain tall people’s relative success.

The first theory is that taller people picked up more social skills as a teen. Researchers did a study of 4,000 white males. They got information from them like their height all through their life and their wages in their 30’s.

When they analyzed this they found that their height between the ages 16 and 23 did predict their wages in their 30’s.

They determined that the link between teen height and adult success has to do with the fact that taller teens are more likely to participate in social activities like athletics, clubs, and dating. With these activities they accumulate productive human capital, such as social adaptability, and that helps them achieve success down the line.

The second theory there smarter. Smart enough to buy a shirt that will fit them! They did tests on three-year-olds. They had to point out pictures or different words. they found that the the three-year-olds that were taller did significantly better.

The third theory is that they were fed better as a kid. Studies found that an above average height resulted from a good nutrition. They found that nutrition affects how tall you are, as well as the development of your cognitive skills. Those skills are useful, along with social skills, among adults in the workplace.

The fourth theory is that we’re biased to see tall people as more leader-like. We have a sense, in our minds, of what a leader is supposed to look like. They say that it’s that way because of evolution. Back in our caveman days, we would have been wise to pick someone who is tall because they could defend us.
